To begin, I promised the rest of SKACK that I would post once I made it up to Colorado, however I have to admit I have been in Colorado since Sunday and have yet to post. I have an excuse though! I have had very limited internet access up and till today so at least I have a valid excuse (well in my mind, not sure about the rest of SKACK.)
Alright so on with the show!
My trip up to Colorado began on Saturday morning. After my car was packed and looked like I was transporting lead weights up to Colorado, I headed off to begin sophomore year around 10:00 am Saturday morning. The drive was pretty uneventful, however, my first complaint is: Texas why are you so massive? Seriously it takes 10+ hours to leave one state? Ridiculous. My second complaint is why did the "Construction Work, Fines Doubled" zone that was supposed to stretch for 12 miles, turn into well over 20 miles? Then why right after that did it turn into a "safety corridor" where instead of going 75 mph you could only go 55 mph? What the hell?! Honestly the drive went well though. :)
So Monday I moved in to my new apartment. However this was met with a little bit of a delay. Before I moved in, my mom and I met with some family in the Denver area before hand.
*Quick Break for a Disgusting Addie story*
So my mom's cousin was telling us about how her son got hurt at track practice. She got this call saying she needed to come to the school because her son may need to go to the hospital. Her first thought was how did he get hurt at track practice? But she made it over to the school to find her son's face a bloody mess. What happened was her son had been playing football during a break at practice and his friend elbowed him in the face by accident. His front teeth got knocked backwards because the bone above his front teeth broke causing the teeth to collapse backwards into his mouth looking like they were stuck far back on the roof of his mouth! Slightly horrified, she told her son "just get in the back, I can't even look at you like that." So she ended up, after visiting the orthodontist, taking him to an oral surgeon (who thought the whole thing was cool) who wired his teeth together so the bone would heal. Gross right? Well imagine this whole thing happening right before prom because it did. Three weeks before prom. Craziness.
*End of Disgusting Addie Story*
After hours of catching up over coffee and lunch, we left Denver around 2:00 pm Monday afternoon. My roommate texted me around 12:30 pm asking if I was on my way. I told her I would be at the apartments around 3:00 or so. By the time I made it to the apartment complex, she was still in line and had been waiting almost three hours and hadn't even made it half way! Seriously, how long does check in take. You hand over a check (which by the way is for MORE than half a month's rent), sign your name that you received your keys, and you are good to go. I don't know what is wrong with apartment complex, but they seriously lack any motivation to check students in. Maybe they are dreading our return or something and want us to suffer? Who knows. All I know is that by 6:00 pm, I FINALLY had keys to my apartment and the hard task of moving all my crap from the car into the apartment began.
After moving all of my stuff into my room, I began unpacking some of it. Inside I found these hilariously punny notes written by Cathy, Stephanie, and Katherine attached to different items in the boxes. I think my favorite was the note attached to the cutting boards that read "Don't cut me bro!" I will admit I laughed out loud at that one. If one thing never fails in our group is how awesomely lame some of the puns can be, but then how much we laugh at them anyways. (Love you all for that!)
Well this was kind of a long post, but that's basically the adventure of the great Move-In of 2011. Overall it was uneventful and I still need to finish organizing my room (ughh) which I seriously lack any motivation to finish. I want to say good luck to the rest of SKACK who move in tomorrow. I hope you all survive the heat! I am loving the weather here; high 80s, maybe 90s during the day and then 60s at night. Not to brag or anything.... Alright I am going to go maybe attempt to finish unpacking. I expect some posts from everyone else about their move-in experience.
Oh! I almost forgot. I just thought of the mascot for The University of Southwestern Colorado at Austin. It is a longhorn with ram horns instead of longhorns and it wears a pirate eye patch. Pretty good eh?

We Be Classy Bitches
Katherine: Can I be the classy part?
Katherine is leaving us for Europe. But we still love her, we guess. Katherine writes stuff.
"The Poetry Snob"
Addie: Lovin' the new party pad - and conveniently located across from Tacos Vallernos and a sketchy, empty lot!
Addie occasionally condescends to visit our party pad from heaven. Addie likes dogs.
"The Music Snob"
Cathy: I feel drunk on love. Awwww yeeaahhhhh.
Cathy is "loveably quirky". She is also a Grufflepuff. 'Nuff said.
"The Book Snob"
Katie: Oh my god you guys. Our server in San Antonio had the same jawline as Neil Patrick Harris.
Katie loves video games and fandoms. She judges us.
"The Video Game Snob"
Stephanie: Can I be the bitches part?
Steph likes pretentious movies. She embraces her dark side.
"The Movie Snob"
